Even before the inaugural Outdoor Mercer County Track Championships were held in the spring of 1934, there was an indoor county championship held in the winter of 1933. Princeton High School won the team title.

Leading the way for Coach Irwin Weiss's Princeton squad was MCTF hall of famer Jim Mitchell who won 2 golds and a silver.

The county high school championship was sponsored by the State Capitol Athletic Association and was included within a larger AAU event that contained other separately scored divisions. Besides the high school division there was a college division,, a women's division, and a junior high division. The meeting also included special invitational events featuring world-class athletes such as future 1936 Olympic gold medalist Frank Wykoff in the sprints.

The final scoring in the county division was PHS with 31 1/2 points, 11 1/2 points for Cathedral, 6 points for Trenton, and 3 for Hamilton.

The meet was held on Wed February 22 of '33 at the Trenton Armory.
