THE MARTIN TROPHY
The Martin Award trophy is presented annually each spring to the outstanding high school track and field athlete from a high school in Mercer County NJ,, whos seasonal performance epitomizes athletic excellence in the sport. The recipient of the award is determined by the hall of fame committee and is deemed the official county athlete of the year for the sport of track and field.
This prestigious trophy award is named for Doug Martin on account of his stellar record as a coach at Reynolds Middle School and Steinert High School from 1972 to 2006, for his exemplary service as the county championship meet director for over 20 years, and for his honorable service both as a high school history teacher and as a United States Marine.
Doug Martin is also a member of the Mercer County Track and Field Hall of Fame. He was inducted in the Class of 2026. See his bio HERE
