On Sunday January 14, 2007, high jumper Devon Bond of Trenton Central High School not only broke the indoor Mercer County record, he cracked the 7 foot barrier.
Bond's 7'0" leap took place at the NJSIAA Group 4 Indoor Relay Championships held at the Jersey City Armory. His jump combined with teammate Frank Thompson's 6'0 leap gave Trenton the high jump relay crown.
About his his record breaking performance he said:

Bond's and Thompson's win was part of a huge team performance for Trenton. The Tornadoes took the team title, scoring 38 points to out-distance double runners-up Hillsborough and Don Bosco who each scored 24.
Other events won by the Tornadoes on the day were the 800 Relay and the1600 Relay.

Bond would go on to win both the winter and spring Meet of Champs in the high jump in 2007.
