On the evening of February 9, 1983, Princeton's Boys and Notre Dame's Girls won the Indoor Colonial Valley Conference Track Championships.

In an extremely tight battle with Lawrence for the boys team title, The PHS Little Tigers were paced by soon-to-be hall of fame inductee Stephan Fletcher. He won the 55m High Hurdles in 7.40 seconds, and took 2nd in the 55m Dash.

Other CVC event champions for Princeton were P.J Young in the Shot Put (55' 11 1/4") and Bill Bushnell who took the 1600 Meter Run (4:31.17).

Coached by Lamont Fletcher, Princeton narrowly surpassed Lawrence by a 1 point margin in the team standings 68 to 67. Notre Dame was third with 51.

On account of the field events taking longer than the track events, the final scoring opportunity for the meet was decided in the high jump. Lawrence failed to gain enough points in the event to overtake PHS's score.

For Notre Dame's Girls Team the CVC meet was one of domination. Head Coach Tony Genovese's squad piled on 119 points to outdistance PHS's girls who were runners-up with 45. Lawrence took third with 42.

ND's effort was a well-balanced one. The Lady Irish took 6 gold medals with 5 different individuals claiming CVC event titles.

ND track winners were Sonja Vaughan in the 400, Sue Teieski in the 800, Melanie Nosol in the 1600 and Jane Cieslin in the 3200.
