The Lawrenceville School – State Champions

The Lawrenceville School won its first ever State Championship in 1920 with a dominating performance. Out of 13 events contested in the NJSIAA Prep Division, they won 11 golds.

The team was captained by George Leh who won 2 state championship gold medals in the 220 Low Hurdles and the 880 Yard Run.

Walter Seufert the school record holder in the Mile Run took home a state title in his specialty.

The state long jump crown was won by
Richard Bigley Rogers who held a season best in 1920 of 21’ 10 ½ “ and a high school career best of 22' 3"--both school records.
Other Lawrenceville athletes who won state titles were Heiter (100), Jackson (220), Crowell (440), Steel (HJ), Watts (PV), Slick (Javelin) & Hoover (Discus).
All together Lawrenceville scored 79 points. Their margin of victory over the 2nd place team was 50 points.
